Sunshiny Day!

Good Morning,

Well it is going to be a Sunshiny Day. I'm on my way today to Toronto to see my daughter. We always have so much fun together. Friday we're planning the day at the zoo and of course Saturday is our big race day. Click here to find out more . This year we do have a team name....we went with Ink-spirations. She's a talented artist and I have my blog so it just fit. Last year we couldn't decide on a name...actually we waited so long we passed the deadline. It was at that point we thought we should have called ourselves "The Procrastinators".

Once again the image and paper is from cricut cartridge "Enjoy The Seasons".  Stamp from Just-Rite and the card sketch MojoMondays.
I had so much to share on Monday regarding the Father's Day fiasco that I didn't tell you about the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Convention I went to on Friday. There were some goodies I purchased. One venue was selling ribbon by the yard so I bought quite a bit of that. I also picked up some stamps. I couldn't resist...they are from Art Impressions - The Girlfriend series. Haven't had time to play with them yet but soon. (I've been busy on another project).

If we have time to take some pictures during the race I'll try and post them here.

Father's Day Outing!

Good Morning,

Hope everyone had an enjoyable Father's Day or would that be a memorable Father's Day. I thought I would share the events of DH's special day. It's good for a laugh.

We thought we would start the day off by going for a nice bike ride. Left home around 9:00 in hopes of riding with less traffic and to beat the heat. Ride along the highway for about 5 miles to the local Starbucks but decide not to stop. Everyone is feeling good and not yet ready for a stop. Fast forward...ride about another 6 or 7 miles and my bike gets a flat tire. No...couldn't have gotten a flat tire near a gas station but we did have a tire repair kit but didn't bother buying the pump. Looked at it a few times but no, we didn't buy it. Bought one for DD for Christmas, didn't want her stranded while out riding! Fortunately we have the i-phone to located the nearest gas station. Off we go pushing the bikes. After quite a while we find the  gas station. Things are looking up. Tire off, find the hole, apply patch, put tube back in tire, now to add air. Right ...you have to pay for the air. Okay go get quarters, start adding air...just as I yell stop there is a big bang.  Ooops. Dang that was my tube...in our rush the tube got pinched in the rim.

Now time to locate the nearest Walmart. 10 minute ride up the road. DH to the rescue. Works out to be about a 30 minute return trip. DH arrives back with a pump and new tube. We've bought new tubes before at Walmart. He also bought a new kind of tube...self healing so I shouldn't have any more problems. One small problem it has a presta valve. Guess what???? Can't get air into the tube cause we don't have an adapter for the pumps. At this point I decide let's call a cab, get home cause we wanted to go to an Astros game in the afternoon. Call two cab companies and they can't get anybody out for at least an hour. This is the only place I've lived that you never see cabs on the road! Let's look at our options...DH rides back to Walmart again.

Fast forward - back from Walmart, get the tire changed, now at least 10 miles to get home, temperature has climbed to 36C but we're determined. If we hurry we can still make the ball game, will be a little late but that's okay. Peddle, Peddle, Peddle...home, quick shower, better check internet to make sure games not sold out....guess what....games not being played at home field. They are actually playing in Arlington...four hours away. No didn't make the game but it will be a memorable Father's Day!

This is the card I made for DH. It was one of the free cuts from CCR. I used double-sided paper and it cut out perfectly. There are five free cuts available until the 19th of June.
This is going to be a busy week. Got lots to do around home and then on Thursday I head to Toronto to be with DD. On the 23rd Kristen & I are competing again in the City Chase. Must get my blisters healed. Had new shoes on yesterday...didn't expect to be walking and I ended up with blisters on each heal. The ankle socks weren't quite to the ankle!

Have a great day and SMILE!

It's Your Day

Hi There,

Friday is finally here. Today I'm heading to the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Convention. It's only 10 minutes away. I'll be sure to let you know on Monday if I found any good deals.

My brother's birthday is coming up soon and I needed to get a card in the mail. I struggled trying to come up with an idea. I was going to use my stamps but couldn't find the set I wanted..I know it is in that cupboard somewhere!

I was very happy with the card once I was finished. The entire card was printed and cut with the Imagine.

It's Your Day - Celebrations
Sun - Designer Calendar
Chair - Life's A Beach
Pattern Paper - Snapshot - Nature
Both the background and paper for the chair were printed with cricut cartridges - Snapshot - Nature. When I look at the sample in the handbook I can't visualize it until I actually try it out.

Couple things I did with the chair to make it stand out more. When this image is cut out there are cut lines for the slats on the chair. I distressed the edges with Tim Holtz Pumice and I also used a copic marker to draw fine lines. It adds a lot of depth.
The sun has been glittered. The button was a different shade of blue until I colored it with my copic marker to match.
So this card can work for Father's Day or a birthday.

A Rose Is A Rose

Morning,

Wow, did we have a storm last night. High winds, lots of rain (about 4" in 1 1 /2 hours). I went to the gym this morning and on the way there there were lots of downed trees, branches everywhere and the debris on the road was like the tide had come in, receded and left all the junk behind. We didn't lose power but lots of the surrounding communities were without.

Still working with the set of images I colored a few days ago. The stamps are from Stampin' Up.
Script and Swiss dots for Cuttlebug folders. Spellbinder dies for the circles. Copic markers and a few prima flowers to finish it off.
A little note that if you have a Cricut machine and use the free Cricut Craftroom there are some free cricut  digital cartridges that you can use until June 19th. They are themed for Father's Day. I'm working with one of those today. To located them look under "My Cartridges" on the drop down menu.

Relax

Hello,
Hope everyone had a good week-end. I went to a rodeo in one of the neighboring counties. It was a lot of fun!
I've been doing a little more scrapbooking lately. Trying to stay caught up on my Grandson's album. Second grandchild will be arriving soon and I'm not sure how I'll find time to do pages for two.
If you haven't paid any attention to the Snapshot pattern series for the Imagine I suggest you take another look. Snapshot Texture was used on all the pattern paper as well as the Koi fish.
The star from Cricut Craftroom Basics.

The images from Art Nouveau work best when cut on larger sizes. The handbook actually suggest the minimum size they should be cut at. I did add some shading using Tim Holtz distress inks.

Ribbons & Rossettes have lots of great borders. I used the negative stars from the border as accents on the co-ordinating page.

Out of Character is the new cartridge from the Cricut Circle. I like how these can be layered and holes for gem placement if you like. I always like a little bling.
Also entering these pages over at Simply Crafts Challenge - rounded star.
Off to play in my craftroom.

Bright & Springy!

Good Morning,

I guess I have a little news catching up today to do. As you know I went up to Arlington for the big scrapbook convention. You're probably wondering what goodies I hauled home. Sorry to disappoint but I came home with some glue and adhesive. :( Saw a few booths selling Spellbinders and those were priced very good. Heartfelt Creations were there. Nothing in the way of Cricut stuff. (One booth had a few cartridges.) Now don't get me wrong there were lots of booths but nothing cried out and said "But Me!" Lots and lots of booths that have pre-designed scrapbook pages and they were very nice but I prefer to design my own. I also didn't feel the prices were so good that I wanted to stockpile pattern paper that I might never use. Now accompanied with that I ended up with some sort of stomach flu. By the time I got back home Friday afternoon I felt really terrible.

But there was a highlight...on my way back to Houston I stopped in Corsicana at a scrapbook store called Scrappin' Goodtime. Awesome assortment of stock and they have a retreat right on site. Beautiful B & B for scrapbookers. The pricing is very reasonable. If you have a group or just yourself I would give them a try...I don't think you'll be disappointed.

On to today's card. You will probably have noticed a theme on flowers by now. I colored up six different images from the same stamp set. I was on a roll with the copic markers. lol Now I'm coming up with different designs on the card. Cardstock was Bazzill and pattern paper from my Costco stash. I really do like pink and green together. Spellbinders for the circles. Happy Birthday embossed with black.
Have a good Monday.
